I'm retiring soon

Does retirement qualify me for a Special Enrollment Period?
Leaving employer coverage at retirement is a qualifying life event. If you retire before 65, you have 60 days to move onto a marketplace plan, and retirement-year income often qualifies you for meaningful savings. If you are 65 or older, dropping employer coverage opens a Medicare Special Enrollment Period for Part B and a Part D or Medicare Advantage plan without late penalties. Retirement is also when annuities come into focus, converting part of your savings into income you cannot outlive while leaving the rest invested.
