I lost my job or employer coverage

I lost my job or employer coverage

What are my options after losing employer coverage?

Involuntary or voluntary loss of job-based coverage is a qualifying life event: you have 60 days from the date coverage ends to enroll in an individual marketplace plan, and you can apply up to 60 days before it ends to avoid a gap. Marketplace coverage is usually far cheaper than COBRA because your lower current income often qualifies you for savings that COBRA never offers. If your employer life insurance ended with the job, replacing it with an individual term policy keeps your family protected and is portable across future employers.
